SPRING TIME LAWNS

Look for dead spots or insect problems that need to be treated.

Remember grass is beginning to green up! Fertilization is critical during this process.

Thatch removal may be necessary if over 1/2 inch to insure nutrient absorption and disease prevention.

Pre-emergent applications should be made to prevent summer weeds.

Aeration for warm season grasses should be done now when green up begins on the lawn.

SUMMER  LAWNS

Watering is important! Especially during dry periods to reduce stress.

Don't water during heat of the day. Evaporation will reduce the amount the grass gets.

 

 

Avoid late evening watering to reduce disease problems.

Early morning watering is optimal if possible so grass foliage does not stay wet too long.

Pest Control for fire ants or chinch bugs is critical to maintain a nice looking lawn.

Mowing more often will reduce weeds and stress on the lawn. (Never take off more than 1/3 of the foliage per cutting.

FALL  LAWNS

Fertiliztion is critical to prepare roots for Winter chill.

Over seeding cool season grass for bare spots should be done now for good root establishment.

Pre-emergent application should be done at this time to help prevent winter weeds.

Aeration is also good now for cool season grasses

WINTER LAWNS

pH of soil should be taken to see if lime should be put down.

Leaf removal will also help reduce disease.

Fertilization of shrubs can be done now to help root growth.
